A family adopted two Odd canines five years apart, and since then, they have developed a close connection.

Picasso and Newt, two dogs with facial abnormalities, reside on 55 acres of their home in Eugene, Oregon, with Liesl Wilhardt, the 53-year-old founder and director of Luvable Dog Rescue. In 2017, following the terrible deaths of his siblings Pablo, Picasso was adopted by Liesl. In 2021, Newt finally reunited with Liesl's family. These two canines are now, in the owners' words, practically inseparable.

1.Since the time a family adopted two Odd canines five years apart, a strong bond has been formed between them.

Five-year-old Picasso was born with a malformed nose. He had weymouth illness, which caused one side of his jaw to grow larger than the other. As a result, he had a twisted appearance that reminded people of a Pablo Picasso picture, hence his given name, Picasso. Despite the fact that this sickness can affect a wide range of animals and does not hurt them, it makes life more challenging and decreases the likelihood that the animal will be adopted.

However, after being bit by his mother, 1-year-old Newt lost his upper jaw.

"It was a miracle that Picasso survived as a baby, because even breastfeeding him became very difficult due to the affected upper jaw," remarked Liesl.

2.Despite the challenges brought on by their abnormalities, these two adorable canines lead very happy lives.

"Both Picasso and Newt were warm and genuinely interested in others. "Most people can't take their eyes off the two dogs, trying to understand what they are seeing," Liesl said. "They are constantly outgoing, demand attention, and love to be greeted.

"They don't feel any pain; they have adapted to the physical challenges and do what they want."

"Newt loved to play, wrestle, and was very nice, so Picasso fell in love with him the moment they met. As Newt grew older, this bond grew stronger, Liesl added. "I truly love Picasso and Newt with all my heart, they are both happy, smart and funny dogs," she said.

Through recordings documenting their everyday activities, including feeding, playing together, setting out, and gathering berries, Liesl Wilhardt gave viewers an insight into the life and unique bond of these two unexpected friends. Even Picasso has a personal Instagram account that has close to 400,000 followers.

Picasso is a wonderful canine with a special personality, according to Liesl in 2017. I was immediately smitten by it. He is now through therapy dog certification training and works as a Luvable Dog Rescue Ambassador.
She claimed that during the time, as part of Liesl's rescue initiative, Picasso spent his days assisting the disabled or the ill.

"This boy has had a difficult life thus far, and I adore him so much. I'm hoping he has a nice rest of his life," she remarked.
