Kim Kardashian is known for her daring and adventurous fashion choices.
She has stunned the world with her iconic outfits at the Met Gala, the annual fashion event in New York where celebrities showcase their creativity and style. Some of her memorable looks include a dress inspired by Marilyn Monroe, a full-body black suit from Balenciaga, and a wet-look dress that resembled dripping water.
But not all of her Met Gala appearances were well-received by the public. In fact, her first time attending the event in 2013 as the guest of her then-husband Kanye West was met with criticism and mockery.

In 2013, Kim was pregnant with her first child, North West, and she chose to wear a floral print gown from Givenchy that covered her from head to toe. She paired it with matching gloves and shoes, and a sleek ponytail.
She loved her outfit, but many others did not.
She faced a lot of negative comments online, comparing her to a couch, a curtain, or a grandma. One of the most hurtful remarks came from the late Robin Williams, who was a famous actor and comedian.
He posted a picture of Kim next to his character Mrs Doubtfire, who wore a similar floral dress in the movie. He captioned it: “I think I wore it better!”
Kim revealed that she cried when she saw his tweet, and felt humiliated by his joke.
“I cried when Robin Williams roasted me and posted who wore it better - me and Mrs. Doubtfire," she said.

#2. North West’s Honest Opinions on Kim’s Met Gala Looks

Kim’s 2013 outfit was not the only one that her daughter North had something to say about. The 10-year-old girl was with Kim as she prepared for the 2023 Met Gala, and she gave her honest feedback on her mom’s previous and current looks.
On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim showed North some of her past outfits, and asked her what she thought of them.
“I really don’t like that one,” North said of her mom’s floral 2013 ensemble.
“Nobody liked that one,” Scott Disick, Kim’s former brother-in-law, chimed in. But Kim defended her choice, saying that she ‘loved it’.

Kim also showed North her outfit for the 2023 Met Gala, which was a pearl-encrusted dress and a nude bodysuit. She had a fitting with Daniel Roseberry, the creative director of Schiaparelli, the fashion house that designed her outfit.
North was not impressed by her mom’s look, and she made some harsh remarks about it.
“There’s way too much gaps in the pearls. It looks like she’s a Hawaiian girl with her dress all ripped,” North said.
She also questioned the quality of the pearls, and said that they looked fake. Kim assured her that they were ‘very expensive, real pearls’.
“I think you need a lesson on pearls,” the 43-year-old Skims founder said.
“We’re not going for flapper girl - we’re going for vintage, authentic pearly girly.”
Kim admitted that North can be very savage with her comments, and that she’s trying to teach her to be more respectful and kind with her words, while still being honest.
