The Hero embodies the problematic "White Saviour Complex," projecting a facade of championing the working-class community (largely Black) while actually perpetuating the oppressive system that benefits the wealthy. Cootie's activism is fueled by the death of his friend Scat (Allius Barnes), who couldn't afford necessary medical treatment for a life-threatening injury.
Motivated by a mix of naivety and urgency, Cootie hastily devises a plan to disrupt the city's central energy company. His goal is to break into the building, destroy the regulator, and restore power to the working class. Although his mismatched crew achieves temporary success, the powers-that-be swiftly regain control, reinstalling the regulator and plunging the community back into darkness.

To make matters worse, The Hero uncovers the identities of the activists responsible for the vandalism and launches an attack on their seemingly impenetrable fortress using rocket launchers. Fortunately, Cootie's adoptive parents, Aunt Lafrancine (Carmen Ejogo) and Uncle Martisse (Mike Epps), have constructed an underground escape route. They urge Felix (Brett Gray), Flora (Olivia Washington), and the shrunken people to flee while they stay behind to confront The Hero.

During this critical moment, Cootie's resentment towards his parents resurfaces. Although they have shielded him from the harsh realities of the world through years of deception, their actions have eroded his trust in them. In the midst of the chaos, Cootie seeks guidance from his friend Jones (Kara Young), who had advised against their previous course of action and instead advocated for standing with her resistance fighters.

Against his parents' wishes but with their reluctant approval, Cootie embarks on a quest to find Jones. However, The Hero alters his trajectory and attacks Cootie in the street. Lafrancine comes to Cootie's defense, ramming The Hero with her car and instructing Cootie to escape. Unfortunately, Cootie unwittingly stumbles into the clutches of a deranged cult, mistaking their intentions to protect him. They capture him and plan to extract knowledge and wisdom from him by slicing out one of his eyes.

As Cootie stands alongside his friends, surrounded by cheering supporters, a pulsating and enraged wound beneath his shirt captures attention. This persistent rash, which has plagued Cootie since episode two, remains a perplexing mystery. It serves as a symbolic reminder of the deep-rooted effects of capitalism explored throughout the series. Cootie acquired the rash while working as a model for the fashion brand Asphalt Royalty.

The exploitative corporation capitalized on his notoriety and the public's fears of a dangerous, giant Black man to sell merchandise. The clothing he wore during this time triggered the rash, which has worsened as the series progressed. While Cootie is hailed as a hero, the rash signifies that the underlying problems of capitalism cannot be eradicated by a single act of heroism. Troubles persist beneath the surface, reminding viewers that victory over systemic oppression is far from guaranteed.
